Improved Phantom canopy set for the 1/32 Tamiya kits. This set was requested by a few modellers that had mentioned how tricky it was to get the clear sections attached to the canopy frames, added to that there were nasty scars at the sprue point fixed to the clear parts. So I started the project thinking it should be fairly easy, then discovered a few more problem areas. Size variations, between clear parts and frame parts, and realised that I could not cast the negative angle of the frame inside the canopy, and the extended canopy supports at the rear would rip the soft silicone moulds. So the easy part well reasonably so remove all internal details from the frames, external canopy supports and the carefully assemble the parts, fixing any small variations. Then to solve the other problems, I resulted in using my new and growing skills of 3D CAD and printing, and have designed replacement internal canopy parts and canopy supports. These parts are supplied as 3D printed parts and have been designed to be a little more accurate than the kit parts. They are easily assembled into the new clear cast sections, PVA / white glue is ideal. Please note the frame section between the front and rear cockpits is not supplied and the kit part is to be used. Please do not clear resin DOES NOT fog with superglue like styrene parts, but care is still needed. These clear resin parts can be buffed with normal buffing sponges and shiners sold by many vendors, nail bars and modelling companies. It is best not to use aggressive sanding materials, other than where to assist in trimming the casting material. Also use you favourite, clear dipping liquid to enhance clarity if desired.
